Career:
1. Two and a half years as Sub-Editor/Reporter in The Statesman, Calcutta
2. Thirty six years and eight months in the Indian Railways as a member of the Indian Railways Accounts Service (IRAS) in various capacities as
a. Finance and accounts officer at various levels including as HOD designated as Financial Adviser & Chief Accounts Officer.
b. Divisional Railway Manager (DRM) of Raipur Division.
c. Sr. Dy General Manager and head of Vigilance Department of Western Railway.
d. Assignments in Computer/IT function in various capacities including Project Manager of large applications development and Professor (Computer) in Railway Staff College in Vadodara.
e. Additional Member (Budget) and finally Financial Commissioner (and Member of Railway Board) in Secretary rank.
f. On deputation to Iraqi Railways for two and a half years
g. Vice President of Railway Sports and earlier Secretary of BNR.
h. Chairman of Indian Railway Finance Corporation and Director of RVNL.
3. After retirement in March, 2011, was Member of West Bengal State Planning Board for five years and Independent Director in several companies.
