Shri Sutirtha Bhattacharya is a retired officer of the Indian Administrative Services and a former Chairman cum Managing Director of Coal India Limited. He has more than 35 years of experience in the field of energy, finance and administration.

Previously, he held directorship in several companies including PTC India Limited, GMR Hyderabad International Airport and Singareni Collieries Company Limited and was chairperson of the West Bengal Electricity Regulatory Commission.

He was conferred the 'Best CEO - public sector undertaking award' in the sixth edition of the Forbes India Leadership Awards in 2016.
