    Recent initiatives by state governments, industry bodies, educational institutions, and a large number of existing & new
    entrepreneurs are working actively to reshape entrepreneurial development. Bengal is at the threshold of a dramatic
    transition in growth of entrepreneurship development.

    TiECON Kolkata 2018 was organised on 02-03 November 2018 at Hyatt Regency, Kolkata by The IndUS Entrepreneurs
    (TiE), a non-profit organisation with an aim to support start-ups with a central theme “The Tipping Point – Accelerating
    the Growth of Entrepreneurship in East India”. The event featured sessions on various topics such as information
    technology, healthcare and biotech, retail and FMCG, real estate and infrastructure, and many more, providing a
    platform to the participants for networking, sharing and learning from each other’s experiences.

    The event was attended by Dr. Amit Mitra, Hon’ble Minister-in-Charge of Finance, Industry, Commerce & Enterprise,
    Information Technology and Electronics and e-Governance as well as Micro Small Medium Enterprise and Textile,
    Government of West Bengal, Shri Chandra Sekhar Ghosh, Managing Director at Bandhan Bank; Shri Ambareesh Murty,
    Co-founder of Pepperfry; Shri Anurag Batra, Chairman of BW Businessworld; Shri BL Mittal, Founder of Sasta Sundar;
    Shri Sankar Sen, Chairman and Managing Director of Senco Gold and various start-ups, entrepreneurs and senior
    Government officials.

    Dr. Amit Mitra, Hon’ble Minister, focused on three things.
    Firstly on what the Government is doing and the ‘e’ area
    or  the  ‘e’  process  in  the  governance  mechanism.  He
    elaborated  various  initiatives  taken  by  the  DIT&E  to
    ensure more secured and transparent governance system.
    He  also  referred  to  the  transparency  established  by
    Kolkata  Traffic  Police.  Secondly  he  focused  on  issued
    related to private sectors initiatives in Bengal and how the
    government  view  their  potential  in  future.  Finally  he
    observed  the  problems  and  challenges  of  the  society
    which must be taken care of.
