    As a policy of the State Government, for the purpose of developing IT and ITeS industries across the State, Government
    of West Bengal has decided to spread the activities of IT to tier-II, tier-III cities in West Bengal. State Government firmly
    believes that focus on IT sector in tier-II, tier-III cities will promote the huge technology potential of the local youth and
    create further employment opportunities and wealth generation for its people.

    In this context Department of IT & Electronics, Govt. of West Bengal has organized an interactive session on “How to
    grow your IT business in Asansol” with aspiring local IT entrepreneurs in Asansol IT Park on 7th September, 2018.
    Asansol has already witnessed development of  IT Parks and facilities in the town. Asansol IT Park is already 64%
    occupied with eighteen (18) companies operating and having 200 IT and other professionals, operating in the Park.
    Purpose  of  the  session  was  to  create  awareness  among  local  youth  on  how  IT  skills  can  be  leveraged  to  create
    sustainable IT businesses and how Government of West Bengal with its initiatives in developing IT infrastructure, right
    ecosystem and skill development is contributing to the growth of IT entrepreneurship in Asansol.

    The event was attended by Shri Debashis Sen, IAS, Additional Chief Secretary, DIT&E Govt. of West Bengal along with
    Shi Prodip Mukhopadhyay, CEO, WIL, Shri Manas Das, DGM (IDM), WBEIDCL, Shri RS Ray, Advisor (CPR), WBEIDCL and
    representatives from NASSCOM.

                                                              At  the  beginning  Shri  Maloy  Paul  Chowdhury,  Deputy
                                                              Manager  (IDM),  WBEIDCL  said  that  under  the  able
                                                              guidance  of  the  Dept.  of  IT&E  and  in  presence  of
                                                              Nasscom, Webel is doing IT awareness campaign in all
                                                              the districts and the session in Asansol IT Park is a part of
                                                              that  series  of  awareness  generation  program.  He
                                                              requested  Shri  Manas  Das,  DGM  (IDM),  WBEIDCL  to
                                                              deliver the welcome address.

    Shri Manas Das, DGM (IDM) welcomed the audience and
    mentioned  that  the  journey  of  this series  of  awareness
    programs  was  started  from  Asansol  on  9th  June  2017.
    These awareness programs are being conducted in every
    district  to  let  the  local  entrepreneurs  know  what  the
    Government is doing for them. As per the policy of the
    State  Government  in  every  district  one  IT  park  is  being
    constructed. He announced that since 2012, 14 IT parks
    have been made ready and this state of the art facility is
    catered at a very low rent. Recently the rent is reduced by
    35 to 40% for the benefit of the entrepreneurs.
